Here's What You'll Need
cherries, sugar, cornstarch, lemon, vanilla extract, salt, box chocolate cake mix, butter, powdered sugar, whipped cream
Combine fresh pitted cherries, sugar, cornstarch, lemon zest, lemon juice, vanilla extract, and Kosher salt in a tart pan, stir to evenly coat the cherries.
Pour 1 box of chocolate cake mix on top. Spread into an even layer.
Melt unsalted butter, then pour directly on top of cake mix, trying to cover as much of the surface with butter as possible. Do not stir or mix.
Place the cake in oven and bake 45-55 minutes. Allow to cool slightly, then serve immediately. Serve with powdered sugar or fresh whipped cream!
