- 1 cup (225g) mayonnaise
- 2 Tbsp (30g) sweet pickle relish
- 1 tsp Dijon mustard
- 2 small or 1 large shallot, finely chopped, about 3 Tbsp
- ½ medium lemon, juiced, about 2 Tbsp (30ml)
- ¾ tsp Kosher salt
- ¼ tsp freshly ground black pepper
Make the tartar sauce. Combine all ingredients in a bowl: 1 cup (225g) mayo, 2 Tbsp (30g) sweet pickle relish, 1 tsp Dijon, 3 Tbsp finely chopped shallot, 2 Tbsp (30ml) lemon juice, ¾ tsp Kosher salt, and ¼ tsp black pepper. Stir well, taste, then adjust seasoning. Place in the fridge until needed.
- Make-ahead: This sauce is a make-ahead dream! Refrigerate in an airtight container for up to 5 days. Use leftovers as a dip, a salad dressing, or a sandwich spread.
- While technically possible to freezing mayonnaise-based sauces, it isn't ideal.
