Ingredients

  • 2 oz distilled gin, I like The Botanist
  • ¾ oz fresh lemon juice, plus peel from lemon
  • ½ oz simple syrup
  • 2 oz Champagne, very cold

Instructions

  • Make the drink. Fill a cocktail shaker halfway with ice. Add 2 oz gin, ¾ oz lemon juice, and ½ oz simple syrup. Shake vigorously, then strain into a flute. Fill with 2 oz cold Champagne, then garnish with twisted lemon peel. Serve immediately.

Notes

  • Bubbly: If you don't have Champagne, try with Prosecco, Cava, or Brut
  • You can replace gin with cognac, which is the original spirit used in this popular drink!
  • No simple syrup? Agave nectar is a decent substitute in a pinch.
